Band at CMP Shingle Springs

Who:  Available to any 4th-8th grade student attending CMP Shingle Springs

 

When:  Mornings from 7:30-8:20am starting the week of September 10th.  Advanced band (anyone who participated in band last year, except percussion) will meet twice a week. Beginning instruments and percussion will meet once a week on a specific day. See the weekly schedule below for when your student will come to band:

 

Monday- Beginning Flute

Tuesday and Thursday- Advanced Band (except percussion)

Wednesday- Beginning Brass and Reeds (trumpet, trombone, clarinet, and sax)

Friday- Percussion (Beginning and Advanced)

 

What you will need:  

  • A band instrument of your choice:  Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, or Percussion (Xylophone and Snare Drum).  There are no instruments available through the school, but there are options for renting an instrument, or you may purchase one.   • Essential Elements for Band, book 1 for your instrument
  • A folding music stand
  • A pencil

 

Session Information:

1st Session:  $150* Starts the week of September 10th, concert on January 24th at 6pm

2nd Session: $150 Starts on January 28th, concert on May 30th at 6pm

 

*Sessions can be paid for separately, or you can pay for both sessions at a discounted rate of $280. Checks can be made to “Mila Olson”

 

Meet the Instruments Night, September 4th at 6pm

Come meet Mrs. Olson and learn more about band at CMP!  See and hear what instruments are available for you to play in band, try playing the different band instruments, rent your instrument from the Music Yard and even purchase your method book!
