Welcome to Flag Football 2019!  We are THRILLED to have your athlete on the team!

There is A LOT of information below. Please read it over and have your athlete read it, too. THANK YOU!

First of all-a HUGE thanks to Rodney Aragon, Gage's Dad, for stepping up to Coach. We STILL do need help. Even if you can come to a practice or two to be an extra set of hands it would be greatly appreciated!
Rodney's cell is 530-409-2299. Please text if your athlete has to miss a practice or a game.
My cell is 530-558-5359 should you need to reach me. I do have a computer at school now (hooray) so can check parent square during the school day.

Practices can and will officially begin on Monday, 8/26. I will have a game schedule next week- probably by Friday 8/30.
We will have between 6-8 games depending on the number of schools participating this season.

Paperwork MUST be turned in to the office no later than Wednesday, 8/28. A $40 donation is respectfully requested (our ref fees for football last year were nearly $1000 and it's almost $2000 to belong to our league). Nobody will be turned away for financial reasons; I would appreciate an email (or you can email Kaylee Meinz) so we are in the know. There is a Waiver and an Athletics Agreement (only need to do one Agreement for the school year). Everything is available online and there are printed copies in the Upper Campus office, too. THANK YOU!

Practices will be every Monday through Thursday until 5pm on the lower campus field (and at 5:05 athletes will go to Club M so that Rodney can get to his next obligation). Practices will be M/W once games begin (around 9/10).

Grade checks will go into effect the week of 9/3.  Athletes must maintain a "C" minimum in every class (in Middle School) and complete a minimum of 75% of their jobs (in the 6th grade) in order to compete the following week.  We are running a fairly tight number for football and athletes agreed that it is their responsibility to stay on top of their school work for their own benefit as well as that of their team.  Please support them by checking Aeries and/or planners at least weekly.

As always, Sportsmanship is of the UTMOST importance to our School Culture and Athletics Program. We always take the high road. Things can and sometimes do go awry. Bad calls will be made (sometimes in our favor and sometimes not). Other athletes will make comments. We're all humans doing the best we can each and every day. Our power lies in our response to the situation. If and when issues arise, we will follow the proper protocol to address and hopefully solve them. There is a 24 hour cooling off period for all athletes and parents. The expectation is that all comments that aren't completely positive will stay between the ears. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this!!

Games are usually held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
They begin at 3:30 for all the 6th graders (officially the 7th-grade team or JV team).
Games begin at approximately 4:45 for all the 7th/8th graders (officially the 8th grade or Varsity team). Athletes should arrive 30 minutes prior to game time.

The Third Annual SABRINA Bowl will be held on SUNDAY, September 15th from 11am-4pmish.  Food will be available and t-shirts will be sold ahead of time.  This is an optional event, of course, and we would love as many of our players to attend as are willing and able.  This is in memory of our CMP Alum/ Coach Extraordinaire, Sabrina Preszler Tindall, who passed at age 20 in September 2016.  The proceeds benefit the Sabrina Scholarship (awarded to an 8th-grade student each Spring) and the CMP Athletics program.

Athletes need the following at practices and games:

  • Mouthguard
  • Cleats (tennis shoes are OK but cleats are generally preferred)
    • If you have cleats your child has outgrown and want to do a swap, send them in and we can do our best...
  • A HUGE water bottle (labeled with name and phone number)
  • Shorts with NO pockets (preferably black)-this is a requirement for games only
  • Jerseys will be issued the week of 9/3

I hope to keep parent square communication to a minimum.  All the practice/schedule info will be available online once we have it.
